I was diagnosed with POTS in 2003. We have successfully treated my POTS with dibenzyline since 2007. All MIBG scans, catecholamine urine tests and blood tests were negative. We are assuming I do not have a pheo. Multiple POTS specialists have said that I am the only POTS patient they know of being treated with this medication.
Yesterday, I went to pick up my prescription of dibenzyline. I was told that the drug had been discontinued and is now obsolete. The pharmacist gave me the last supply of dibenzyline she had on hand. I informed my specialists and family physician of the discontinuation. I am under the assumption that I have 20 days of supply to discover a comprobable medication.
My first question is:
Can someone verify that this drug is obsolete? All local pharmacies have told me this is true. I can not find the drug listed as discontinued on the FDA website.
My second question is:
Are there other drugs like dibenzyline? (besides Phentolamine, Tolazoline, Trazodone)
I require a non-selective complete sympathetic nervous system blocker to continue with my current lifestyle.
