I am new to this board. I am 31 years old and developed high blood pressure in July...always normal BP before. One medication did not control my BP, so my doctor put me on a second. My BP does still spike at times even though I am on 2 BP meds. I have other symptoms; flushing, sweating, headaches, shaky/lightheaded/faint, chills, cold hands and feet, and extreme fatigue. I have a history of migraines. My doctor ran a randon urine test, and the metanephrines/normetanephrines were high. Next he ran a 24 hour urine and the metanephrines/normetanephrines were high. My doctor sent me for an MRI w/ contrast of the abdomen and it came back normal. My doctor tested other things as well and all were normal except for aldosterone was slightly elevated...my thyroid has been tested on 2 different occasions and is normal. My doc wasn't sure what to do next and sent me to an Endo. The Endo I went to didn't seem to be all that concerned and my visit was short. The Endo ran a blood test to recheck the metanephrines, aldosterone, cortisol, and something else which I am awaiting the results. Has anyone experienced abnormal lab results indicating a pheo but had a MRI come back normal? Is there something else causing my high BP and symptoms? Could I have a pheo that did not show up on the MRI? Please share your thoughts or experiences. Thanks so much for your time in reading this!
